Health Partners appoints Dr. Merleen-Harris Williams as Senior Medical Officer

Dr Merleen HarrisMerleen Harris-Williams, MD, has been named senior medical officer of Medical Affairs at Health Partners. As such, she will oversee the development and management of clinical strategies aimed at ensuring the highest quality care and the best health outcomes for Health Partners’ members. Dr. Williams is a seasoned healthcare professional and has extensive experience in Utilization, Quality, Disease and Case Management.

Prior to her promotion, Dr. Williams was the medical director of quality management at Health Partners. In that role, she performed and analyzed utilizations and implemented quality trends to advance healthcare delivery. Dr. Williams was instrumental in developing Health Partners’ Emergency Room Initiative (ERI), which has been effective in educating members as to when it is appropriate to contact their primary doctor, or when they should visit the emergency room. As part of this initiative, Health Partners launched a 24/7 Nurse Advice Line, offering members the chance to talk to a registered nurse who can provide medical advice and other health tips and answer questions

Dr. Williams has a medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine. She is currently pursuing her Masters of Business Administration (MBA) in Healthcare Management from DeSales University. Dr. Williams resides in Horsham, Pennsylvania.
