Carla Harris Keynote Speaker for Third Annual Circle of Achievement Awards Gala

Carla HarrisThe African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey (AACCNJ) announces Carla Harris, Managing Director and Senior Client Advisor at Morgan Stanley, will be the Keynote Speaker at the Third Annual Circle of Achievement Awards Gala. Judy Smith, founder and President of Smith & Company, will receive the “Politics Award”. Mike Ricketts, President and CEO Quality Packaging Specialists International (QPSI), will receive the “BusinessAward”. Sheryl Huggins Salomon, Managing Editor of “The Root” Magazine, will receive the Entertainment Award. The Third Annual Circle of Achievement Awards Gala will be held at the Hyatt Regency New Brunswick in New Brunswick, New Jersey on February 16, 2013. The theme for the Gala is “Restoring Relevance”. Each year, during Black History Month, the AACCNJ recognizes a distinguished group of African Americans individuals who have attained a significant level of accomplishment in business, education, politics, community, sports and entertainment.
Carla Harris in her position at Morgan Stanley is responsible for increasing client connectivity and penetration to enhance revenue generation across the firm’s securities and wealth management businesses. She formerly headed the Emerging Manager Platforms, the equity capital markets effort for the consumer and retail industries and was responsible for Equity Private Placements. Ms. Harris has extensive industry experiences in the technology, media, retail, telecommunications, transportation, industrial, and healthcare sectors.
For more than a decade, Ms. Harris was a senior member of the equity syndicate desk and executed transactions as initial public offering for UPS, Martha Steward Living Omnimedia, Ariba, Redbank, the General Motors, to name a few. Ms. Harris, was named to Fortune Magazine’s list of “The 50 Most Powerful Black Executives in Corporate America”, U.S. Bankers Top 25 Most Powerful Women in Finance (2009, 2010, 20111) Black Enterprise Magazine’s “Top 75 African Americans on Wall Street” (2006 -2011).
