The Ivy Legacy Foundation hosts 21st annual event to raise money for Philadelphia scholars and community organizations

Philly's Men Are CookingOn Saturday November 24, 2012, The Ivy Legacy Foundation, the charitable arm of Rho Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., will host its 21st Annual Philly’s Men are Cookin’ extravaganza. This unique fundraiser will be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, Broad and Arch Streets, Terrace Ballrooms One and Two, from 8pm to Midnight. The event showcases the culinary talents of approximately 150 volunteer chefs, both amateur and professional, and boasts an attendance of over 1,000 enthusiastic guests. Of course, the extensive showcase of chefs will focus on Healthy Lifestyle and Living initiatives with recipes ranging from exotic beverage recipes to down home specialties. All proceeds benefit Philadelphia scholars and community groups who receive grants from the Foundation.

This year, The Ivy Legacy Foundation is honored to have NBA Legend Darryl “Chocolate Thunder” Dawkins and Heavy Weight Contender “Fast” Eddie Chambers attend this event for the first time. Both men support philanthropic efforts in the Greater Philadelphia area. The Ivy Legacy Foundation is proud to have the commitment of these extraordinary and accomplished sports figures to support the Foundation’s mission of awarding scholarships to local youth.

“In these challenging economic times, The Ivy Legacy Foundation is elated that so many people continue to support our efforts to raise money for scholarships for outstanding high school students and other organizations serving the needs of our community,” said Hon. Sheila Woods-Skipper, President of the Foundation. This year’s corporate sponsors include Campbell Soup, Sovereign Bank, Citizens Bank, American Red Cross, ING and countless others.

To date, the Foundation has awarded over $250,000 to exceptional high school seniors, as well as non- traditional students. Funding is also contributed to several community organizations as investments in the people and neighborhoods of the Greater Philadelphia Region.
